HUNDREDS of kind Chester community helpers were out and about delivering improvements to the city last week.
The Chesterfest Cake Week saw 23 church congregations working together with partner organisations to benefit the city.
Nearly 20 teams of between eight and 15 young people worked on the projects, supported by two youth workers.
They took part in projects such as teaching local youngsters football skills in Hoole, providing free car washing for shoppers in Kingsway Shopping Parade and creating a wildlife garden with paths, seating, and bird boxes for the Lache Playgroup.
Cake, or Community Acts of Kindness Experience, is a week-long youth and community programme run with the support of Christian groups such as Link Up, the Light Project and Chester Christian Schools Work.
Local church leader and Chesterfest chairman, the Rev Andy Glover, said: “The main purpose of the Cake Week is to bring the church in Chester and the local communities of the city together, to give young people the opportunity to serve in the community and to provide quality activities for them.”
The week of activities concluded with The Event on Friday in Bishops High School, Great Boughton.
Christian band YFriday were on song with support from Cyber X.
