Upton High School head of music retires

A CHESTER music teacher has retired after a note-perfect career.

John Tennant left Upton High School this summer after 34 years as head of music and past pupils played at a farewell concert.

The musicians joined existing pupils for the celebratory evening following an afternoon of rehearsal.

Mr Tennant said: “It went very well indeed.

“We played songs from the shows, some Ray Charles pieces and there were so many past pupils there that we could round off with a celebration of Stevie Wonder songs. We always used to finish off our tours with that.”
