Four people killed in Neston car crash

FOUR people have died in a road traffic collision involving a car and tree in Neston in the early hours of this morning.

Cheshire police received a 999 call at 2.10am to say that a car had collided with a tree on the junction the A540 Chester High Road and Runnel, near Neston.

The car had been on A540 heading towards Wirral when the collision occurred.

Two men and two women died at the scene.

Police are currently trying to extricate three bodies from the car and one body which had been thrown clear from the car.

Cheshire police spokeswoman Jane Gregory said three of the victims - two men and a woman - have now been identified.

The A540 is closed from the junction with Runnel to Boathouse Lane.

Cheshire police are appealing for anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the crash to contact them on 0845 459500.
