Hoole Lane flats explosion: Cause still a mystery

Hoole Lane flats explosion: Cause still a mystery

MYSTERY still surrounds the cause of the explosion in Hoole.

A gas explosion is considered the most likely cause but as of yet investigators have not found anything untoward with the gas supply.

National Grid investigators were combing the scene in the hours after the incident.

Jeanette Unsworth from National Grid said: "It is not confirmed as being a gas explosion. We are currently carrying out further investigations.

"We have not yet been able to do a full investigation of all the pipe work in the building. Investigations are likely to go into next week."

The bomb disposal squad was even sent to the property the next day.

Police said this was simply a precaution as the cause of the incident was unknown and still under investigation
