Pub landlord fined for screening TV football

A LANDLORD was ordered to pay more than £2,000 for screening three football matches without paying the applicable fee.

Christopher Gentile, of the City Arms, Chester Street, Saltney, was found guilty in his absence at Chester Magistrates Court of dishonestly receiving the programmes with intent to avoid payment.

He was fined £350 for showing a Portsmouth v Newcastle United Premier League match, £400 for a Manchester United v Liverpool Premier League match and £437.50 for a Liverpool v Chelsea Champions League tie.

He must also pay £826.45 costs and £15 victims surcharge, totalling £2,028.95.
