A FEMALE cyclist was taken to hospital after she collided with a car in Chester city centre this morning (Tuesday, June 30).
The 58-year-old was riding her bicycle along St Martins Way when she collided with a blue BMW X5, which was turning into City Walls Road at 8.45am.
An ambulance and three police vehicles attended the incident, which was witnessed by commuters stuck rush-hour traffic on what is one of Chester’s busiest routes.
Police are launching an investigation into how the cyclist came into contact with the large car, which was being driven by a woman.
A Cheshire Police officer at the scene told the Chronicle that: “We think the injured woman may have been cycling along St Martin’s Way and perhaps the BMW driver was turning into City Walls Road.
“We are now going to investigate so we can find out exactly who was at fault. We suspect the cyclist has minor injuries, she has hurt her arm and she has said she had hurt her hip.”
The cyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics and police officers before she was loaded onto the ambulance to be taken to hospital.
