COMMUNITY groups throughout Cheshire are putting their best foot forward after teaming up with a professional dance group to create their own performance.
St John Ambulance Cheshire Young Carers, The Mulberry Centre and other community groups have been working with professional contemporary dance company, Co3 Dance, on a series of performances this month.
The project culminates in a performance this Saturday (June 27) at Christ Church in Newtown, Chester.
It has been funded by the Arts Council England and Anne, Duchess of Westminster Charity.
Co3 dancer Claire Morris said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with local community groups across Cheshire for this exciting dance project.
“Christ Church isn’t just hosting the project, it will be the inspiration for making the dance performance.
“The project is a site-specific dance which delves into the heritage, architecture and fabric of the building.
“Its purpose is to bring alternative to the theatre, whereby the audience will be invited to explore the building to find the dance, instead of taking their seats in the auditorium.”
She added: “To help bring the project together, we workshop ideas with the groups, and then facilitate their input to generate the dance.
“This allows young people and adults to use their imagination and have ownership on their work.”
