CHESHIRE’S historic agricultural show opened its showground to thousands of visitors today (Tuesday) with dozens more expected through the gates tomorrow (Wednesday).
Organisers of the Cheshire County Show say the first day of the two-day spectacular is already bursting at the h-edges with visitors as the sun shines down on the 171st event at Tabley Showground near Knutsford.
Mingling with a multitude of visitors today is TV botanist Professor David Bellamy, in what is his third visit to the event.
The action-packed county show continues all day tomorrow until 6pm with a whole host of attractions and fun lined up.
Hundreds of animals will be again competing in show classes for cattle, pigs, sheep and other livestock, light horses, ponies and shires, dogs, rabbits, cavies, pigeons, ferrets and sheep.
In the main ring, heart-stopping displays from the RAF Falcon parachute team, UK leading quad-biker Jason Smyth and his Adrenaline Tour, as well as stunning falconry displays from Knutsford-based Gauntlet Prey, will keep spectators of all ages entertained for hours.
Also, archeologist and star of the BBC’s Victorian Farm Alex Langlands will don his Victorian dress and talk to visitors at the Cheshire Show about the farming techniques he used, craft skills needed to live on the Victorian farm, and will make an appearance in the Roberts Bakery Food Live Theatre as part of a cookery demonstration.
The Roberts Bakery Food Hall will also be the Food Live Theatre with appearances from chefs from eateries across Cheshire, demonstrating meals which can be re-created at home using local produce from across the North West.
