Weapon and drugs seized during police raids on houses in Frodsham

A HUNTING knife, cannabis and amphetamine have been seized as part of a series of drugs warrants carried out by Cheshire police.

Western Rural Neighbourhood Policing Unit carried out warrants on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (June 8-10) to coincide with national tackling drugs week.

During the first warrant in Frodsham, an 18-year-old local man was arrested for possession of cannabis and breaching his Anti-Social Behaviour Order.

A large hunting knife and some cannabis were also found in a house in Frodsham during a separate warrant.

The knife was signed over to the police by the owner and will be safely destroyed.

On Tuesday a man was arrested and cannabis and amphetamines were seized by officers at another address in Frodsham.

The warrants were part of National Tackling Drugs week, an action and awareness week. Other events such as visits to schools and officer training also took place during the week.

Insp Phil Hodgson said: “These warrants send out the message that drugs will not be tolerated in the area. These are positive results that not only result in arrests but also disrupt the local drugs scene.

“We do not only carry out warrants like this during action weeks, this week has just allowed us to focus our attentions on some of the issues in the community. Frodsham does not have a big problem with drugs and we want to keep it that way.”
