CHESTER children have been showing that when it comes to creepy- crawlies and reptiles they are braver than a lot of adults.
The nursery and reception class at Upton Westlea Primary School were treated to a visit by Welsh College of Horticulture staff and a few of their smaller friends as part of their mini beasts project.
The college’s animal care lecturer, Sarah Cocks, brought along a range of animals from its exotic house, including giant African land snails, Madagascan giant hissing cockroaches, Macleay’s Spectre stick insects, a tarantula, leopard gecko, green toad and a rosy boa snake.
She said: “The class showed great amounts of bravery on the day, not shying away from any of the animals that they were shown.
“All took part in the handling and made the very most out of the unique opportunity of being able to get so close to their subjects.”
She added: “Anybody interested in a career working with exotic animals can contact the college to find out more about career opportunities and training options. Get in touch by calling us on 01352 841000.”
