WEST Cheshire AC’s junior squad was in winning form in Sunday's Young Athletes League meeting at Halifax.

They took the team honours with 407 points, from the hosts (365), Wrexham (258) and Pudsey & Bramley (139).

The U17 boys dominated the sprints with A and B victories for Stephen Jones and Sam Rimmer in the 100m, Robbie Dagnall and Stephen Jones in the 200m, and Aidan Stoakley and David Donkin in the 400m.

Tom Booth and Sam Rimmer took the honours in the sprint hurdles race with Tom also coming home in first place in the 400m hurdles.

Michael Williams produced a decisive victory in the shot putt with Sam Rimmer winning the B event and Michael also won the javelin.

Robbie Dagnall and Aidan Stoakley won both triple jump events, with Robbie and Stephen also winning the long jump.

The boys won both relays by huge margins with Robbie, Aidan, Stephen and Tom in the 4x100m, and Aidan, David, Richard and Robbie in the 4x400m.

CONTRIBUTING to West Cheshire's winners in Halifax were the U15 boys, who saw Callum Benson taking the honours in the pole vault.

Rhys Dawkes took first place in the A shot and Javelin events and first in the B shot.

Yousef Khalifa won the B hammer throw while Michael Bailiff took victory in the high jump .

Ryan Jones triumphed in the 80m hurdles, Adam Howell took first in the A long jump by a big margin and stormed round the 400m A race to take first place.

Joel Langmead was victorious in the B shot and Tom Kellett walked away with first in the B hammer throw and also took first place in the B 200m.

Adam, Yousef, Ryan and Tom were winners in the 4x100m relay.

FURTHER success was tasted by the U13 boys squad.

Daniel Vickers took first place in the B 200m while Leon Langmead and James McMahon were victorious in both the A and B shot putt events.

James McMahon and Chris McCartney crossed the line in the same time to share the win in the A and B 75m hurdles race.

THERE were three double winners in Halifax for the U17s girls squad.

Leah Ferrie and Sam Galley produced four graded performances to win both the U17 girls A and B sprint events.

Another winning double performance came from Gemma Hale and Danielle Erskine in both the 80m hurdles and the 300m hurdles.

Emily Clark took two first places in the long and triple jumps, with Danielle taking the honours in the javelin by a large margin.

Leah, Sam, Gemma and Danielle combined to win the 4x100m race by almost 30m from the second-placed team.

ALTHOUGH West Cheshire's U15s girls squad was reduced in numbers they, still performed well at the Young Athletes League meet.

Kelly Baker took first place in the B 200m and Jenni Potter and Jenna Sheehy battled down the track to produce a thrilling finish by crossing the line almost together in the 75m hurdles. Kelly took a fantastic first place in the discus throw and also achieved a grade one performance to win the A shot event.

The long jump also saw a double triumph with Olivia Montez-Brown, winning the A event and Jenni Potter the B event.

Jenna, Olivia, Laura and Kelly produced some very click baton changes to come home in first place in the 4x100m.

AMY Williams cleared the 70m hurdles for West Cheshire in a grade one time for the U13 girls squad.

She was also the winner in the A long jump with Erin McFadden first in the B event.

Distance runners Natasha Tudor and Ellen McMahon were second in their runs.

Amy and Charlotte Williamson were second in the longer of the two sprint events and also in both hurdles runs, as was Laura Jones in the A 75m. Gemma Chatterton won the B 75m and backed up Laura in the shop putt with the girls finishing first in the A group and Gemma second in the B group. Gemma, Laura, Amy and Charlotte were second in the 4 x 100m relay.
