THE wedding has taken place at St Mark’s Church, Connah’s Quay, of Mary Abney, daughter of Dr and Mrs Howard T Abney of Watkinsville, Georgia, USA, and Alan Rathbone, son of Mr and Mrs Alan Rathbone of Blacon, Chester.

The couple met while Mary was on a missions trip with Teen Missions International.

Mary brought 17 teenagers from across the United States and Canada to serve at Save the Family in Northop Hall, where Alan works as a social enterprise coordinator.

They corresponded via email and phone before getting engaged on New Year’s Eve.
