Pupils equipped for gardening

NEWTON Primary School has earned new gardening equipment through the Morrisons Let’s Grow Scheme.

Year 2 pupils received new wellies and gardening gloves to wear in their allotment along with new trowels, gardening forks and a tomato greenhouse and a potato barrel.

The scheme involves trading Let’s Grow vouchers, which are earned by buying groceries at Morrisons, for gardening equipment for schools.

The idea is intended to teach children to grow their own food and to lead a healthier lifestyle.

Youngsters will be growing fruit and vegetables.
