Proposal for cycle route between Frodsham and Helsby High School

A DESIGNATED cycleway from the centre of Frodsham to Helsby High School could be on the cards after highways officers supported in principle a route proposed by Frodsham and Cheshire West and Chester councillor Andrew Dawson.

The route, which would start from Eddisbury Square and follow the line of the railway, coming out near Godscroft Lane, would be wide enough to be shared by pedestrians, Cllr Dawson told Frodsham Town Council.

With the closure of Frodsham High School next month, he said it was important to provide a safer route for pupils from the town travelling to Helsby High that would take them away from the busy A56.

“It could cost around £100,000 but I think this is now a long-term possibility,” he said, and he urged Frodsham Town Council to push the idea with Cheshire West and Chester Council.
