STUDENTS were invited to prove they have a way with words.

Abbey Gate College, at Aldford, was asked by the Chester and District Rotary Club to participate in its annual poetry reading competition.

Three members of Year 7 competed – Georgie Hook, Rebecca Morris and Emma Morgan.

They read a poem of their choice and also a work written by the Poet Laureate of Chester, Terry Fox.

A spokesperson for Abbey Gate College said: “We were delighted when Georgie Hook was confirmed the winner.”
