Cheshire Police welcome armed robber’s guilty pleas at Chester Crown Court

A MAN is to be sentenced at Chester Crown Court after he pleaded guilty to two counts of armed robbery.

Gareth Siarl Williams, 36, from Liverpool, faced a total of 15 various charges when he appearedbefore a judge on Tuesday morning.

He was arrested by Cheshire Police in March in connection with a series of armed robberies in the Chester area.

Williams admitted committing robbery and possession of a firearm at Corbett’s Bookmakers, Hoole, on March 2 and at The Local off-licence in Ormskirk on March 5.

He also admitted escaping lawful custody from Mold Crown Court on December 23 last year in addition to dangerous driving and driving while disqualified on March 7.

He also pleaded guilty to taking a motor vehicle without consent. The defendant will now reappear at Chester Crown Court for sentencing on Monday, June 29.

Cheshire Police spokeswoman Shelley Williams said: “We are pleased this prolific offender, who has posed a threat to society across Cheshire and the North West, has pleaded guilty to many of the charges he faces.

“We look forward to his reappearance at Chester Crown Court when we hope he receives a sentence that reflects the severity of the offences he has committed.”
