THE headteacher credited with turning around the fortunes of a Chester high school is leaving.
Ella Brett, who has been in post at Blacon High School since 2006, has been promoted to the headship of Ruskin Sports College in her home town of Crewe.
Deputy headteacher Dean Poselthwaite said that Ella has helped the school to improve pass rates, which have now doubled to 50%.
He added: “We have seen a dramatic transformation over the last three years thanks to her inspirational leadership, both within the school and in the community – the building blocks are now in place for attainment to continue to rise.”
Vice-chair of governors and Blacon councillor Reggie Jones said that Ella’s departure will be a sad loss.
“Ella has given a new and exciting dimension to the school in the short time she has been head teacher,” he said.
“She has helped Blacon High to improve educational levels, attendance and the school’s relationship with the community – she is a real breath of fresh air to Blacon and will be missed.
“The community and the school must continue to work together to ensure that the new head builds on the legacy that Ella has provided.”
