Yoga will ease the nerves of pupils sitting exams

STRESSED pupils worried about upcoming exams are being offered the chance to calm their nerves.

Christleton Sports Centre has introduced Hatha Yoga and Power Yoga classes to help Chester’s teenagers cope with exam stress as GCSEs and A Levels fast approach.

The sports centre, which is run by Chester and District Sports and Recreation Trust (CADSART), has brought in fitness experts to teach young people how to remain calm and concentrated when it matters most.

Jon Kelly, operations manager at CADSART, said the Yoga classes could help teenagers get the most out of their exam performance.

“Taking exams is incredibly stressful and even the calmest person can become panicky and flustered under pressure,” he added.

“Yoga teaches breathing techniques that can help you stay relaxed and calm, not only when actually sitting the exam but also during the revision period beforehand.

“Yoga is about equipping our mind as well as our body for a more peaceful and relaxed approach to life.

“The GCSE and A-Level exams teenagers will be taking over the next few weeks will have an enormous influence over their future careers so we want to do everything possible to help them get the results they deserve.”

The Hatha Yoga takes place on Wednesdays at 6.30pm for 90 minutes, while Power Yoga is on Thursdays at 6.30pm for 45 minutes.
