A WOMAN teacher was charged last night with seven counts of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy at a Cheshire school.

The 38-year-old woman from Kelsall, who cannot be named for legal reasons, could face years behind bars if found guilty.

She was charged with seven counts of abuse of a position of trust and engaging in sexual activity with a boy aged between 13 and 17 under Section 16 of the Sexual Offences Act following a joint investigation by Cheshire County Council Safe Guarding Team and Cheshire Constabulary.

The teacher, who was suspended from the school in November 2008, will now appear before Vale Royal Magistrates on Thursday, June 25.

The school was unavailable for comment due to the half- term holiday.
