Runaway van knocks down lamp-post in Chester
A LAMP post was knocked down by a runaway white van after the driver left his hand-brake off.
Staff at a Kwik Fit garage and the Custom House pub, near to Weaver Street, heard a loud bang at about 11amon Monday, May 25, and ran out to find the lamp post leaning on the roof of the garage.
The post was left precariously balanced after the accident until workers from nearby Kwik Fit garage knocked it over to stop it falling on passersby.
A worker at the pub said: “If someone was walking past or coming out of the garage it could have been very dangerous.”
The lamp post has since been removed.
