Frodsham carer becomes 10,000th public member of Chester mental health Trust

A HEALTH Trust has reached a significant milestone after recruiting a 17-year-old carer, Cameron Weir, as their 10,000th public member.

Cheshire and Wirral Partnership has been recruiting members across the county since it became a Foundation Trust in July 2007, and its membership has grown significantly.

Nigel Watson, lead governor for the NHS body, said: “We are really excited to share this celebration with Cameron and are delighted to have reached this big milestone.

“Every member matters and having a large and vibrant membership ensures there is local involvement in different aspects of service development.”

Frodsham resident Cameron, a former Trinity Mirror Cheshire Your Champions winner, is a carer for his sister Rosie who has learning disabilities and his father who has a brain injury.

He was honoured by us after rescuing his family when their car left the road near the M53 in Ellesmere Port and crashed into the canal.

He said: “I am really excited that I joined CWP as a member. I am pleased that I am able to help people understand what happens with the challenges of mental health, learning disability and drug and alcohol issues based on my experience.”
