Saughall man pleads not guilty to robbery

AN ALLEGED robber who allegedly stole from an elderly couple in their own home as they watched has pleaded not guilty.

Felix Purcell, 39, of Saughall is alleged to have robbed elderly John Mullins and his wife of cash, a wallet and credit cards in their home in Hillside Road, Blacon.

He denied the offence at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday.

At around 8.20pm on Thursday, January 22, the 80-year-old male victim required hospital treatment after suffering cuts and bruises and spent the night at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Purcell was remanded in custody and will appear at Knutsford Crown Court for a jury trial on July 14.
