Queen’s School girls receive Duke of Edinburgh gold award from the Earl of Wessex.

A TRIO of Chester sixth formers have found gold on the streets of London.

Queen’s School students Laura Hogg, 17, of Chester, Libby Anderson, 17, Northwich and Rebecca Shears, 17, of Tarporley received their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from the Earl of Wessex at St James’s Palace.

The three girls completed their gold award during years 11 and 12. Rebecca and Laura chose to do their qualifying expeditions in the UK, hiking in the Lake District and the Peak District. Libby went further afield to Argentina for a month in 2007.

She said: “We also had to complete a residential component, where we went away for a week to develop our skills or help other people.”
