New CDs celebrate Chester Cathedral organ

THE glory of Chester Cathedral’s organ is celebrated on two new CDs.

Philip Rushforth plays the organs of Southwell Minster and Chester Cathedral and The Grand Organ of Chester Cathedral played by Philip Rushforth each cost £12.99 from the cathedral shop.

Works on the CDs include some by John Sanders, who was cathedral organist from 1964-1967, Riff Raff by Giles Swayne, Dido’s Lament and the Romanza from Vaughan Williams’s Fifth Symphony and pieces by Louis Vierne.

Philip Rush- forth is director of music at Chester Cathedral.
