Grass fire breaks out on the Meadows in Chester

FIRE crews attended a grass fire at The Meadows, Chester, on Friday, April, 3.

A Cheshire Fire & Rescue Service spokesman said: “The fire spread quite quickly due to the dry weather, covering a large area.

“Firefighters spent four to five hours tackling the blaze between about 4 and 8.30pm.

“It was quite a strange feeling standing up to our knees in marsh water fighting a fire.”

A nearby resident in Beeston View said: “It started in the afternoon and lasted into early evening. Three fire appliances attended.”
