A BATTLING mum took to the city streets to get support for her bid to change EU law.
Jean Jones is taking her fight to get custody of her grandchildren to Westminster on April 29.
At just 25, her daughter, Carly Jones, died two years ago from cervical cancer which spread to her lungs. Throughout her illness, Carly tried to gain custody of her children Sol and Reece, who lived in Germany where their father had custody of them. Both children now live near Dusseldorf with Sol living with his father's parents and Reece with a foster family.
Jean, of Redwood Close, Saltney and her ex-husband, Carly’s father Dave Jones, were joined by friends to hand out fliers and collect signatures on a petition outside Chester Town Hall.
On Saturday, Jean joined other families who had lost children tragically on the Families for Justice march in Liverpool. On Monday she recorded an interview with Marcher Sounds to promote her cause which will be aired on Friday and will hit the airwaves again when Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour interview her later this month.
Jean said: “We collected 200 signatures which I hope to take to Downing Street when I have 3,000-4,000.”
She will collect more signatures on the afternoons of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Supporters can also sign an online campaign form at www.justiceforcarly.com.
