RESIDENTS in Tattenhall are being urged to join in with a worldwide environmental scheme to help reduce carbon emissions.Earth Hour is a World Wildlife Fund project where home owners across the world are asked to unite in their concern for climate change by switching off their lights for an hour to help save the planet.John Plummer, chairman of voluntary group Action Climate Change Tattenhall, says that local villages across Cheshire will also be taking part in Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28 from 8.30pm-9.30pm.“We want people to turn off their lights for an hour, without putting themselves in danger of course,” he said.“It is estimated that there will be a billion people across the world in sequence switching off their lights.“It won’t achieve any great saving in terms of money but it is a gesture to help people feel that they are part of something important to do with the whole planet.”ACCT is also this year focusing on growing food locally with future projects including an orchard, garden exchange and allotments.
