Vale Royal Borough Council do something funny to make money for Comic Relief

FUN fundraisers are hoping to raise hundreds of pounds for Comic Relief.

Staff at Vale Royal Borough Council will be dressing down in silly costumes and Frodsham councillor and amateur comedian Brian Lloyd will be given 30 seconds to think of jokes on random subjects.

Karen Baker, from strategic partnerships, said: “In honour of this year’s theme, ‘do something funny for money’ we are going to give a special prize to the person who dares to wear the silliest outfit to work.

“We always have lots of willing participants, so I will be expecting to see something special for Vale Royal’s last ever Comic Relief.”

Each member of staff will pay £1 to take part today, and the proceeds will go toward aid projects in the UK and Africa.

Cllr Brian Lloyd, who will be telling jokes in the Employee Zone, said: “I wanted to take this year’s motto literally.

“I’ve been involved in comedy most of my life in one form or another, so this is a way of making money to fit the theme of Red Nose Day. I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Last year’s fundraising efforts raised £900 for Comic Relief.
