Tarvin restaurant gains permission to trade later on Sundays

A VILLAGE restaurant has gained permission to trade later on Sundays.

The Gunnery at 71 High Street, Tarvin, in Tarvin Conservation Area, is in a GradeII-listed building. There is a condition it closes at 3.30pm on Sundays and bank holidays.

Applicant Sally Harris told planning officers at Chester City Council she was seeking approval to extend the Sunday closing time to 11pm.

She said the nearby Red Lion sells food and drink until 11pm on Sundays and nearby George and Dragon can do so until midnight.

Mrs Harris argued closing her restaurant in the middle of the afternoon leads to ‘a substantial loss of business on one of the most important trading days’.

She added customers might go elsewhere to avoid early closing.
