Hope House to give abseiling a historic twist at Peckforton Castle

A UNIQUE opportunity to abseil down Peckforton Castle’s medieval walls is on offer for fundraisers.

The daring feat will help raise money for children whose lives have been cut cruelly short by life-limiting illnesses.

Children’s hospice Hope House, based in Oswestry, is looking for up to 70 daredevils to abseil the 65ft from the turrets at the top of the Castle to the ground in May.

Rachel Pike, Hope House community fundraiser, said: “This is a really exciting venture for anyone looking for a challenge.

“It should be great fun for all involved and with Peckforton Castle as the venue, it just makes it that bit more special.”

Hope House Children’s Hospices care for more than 250 life-limited children and their families and about 130 bereaved families from across North and Mid Wales, Cheshire and Shropshire.

Registration for the abseil costs £10 and every participant is asked to raise a minimum of £75 in sponsorship to help Hope House.

Anyone who wants to register for the abseil on Saturday, May 9 can contact the fundraising office on 01691 671671 or collect registration forms from the Hope House shop in Frodsham Street, Chester.
