A SELF-EMPLOYED roofer from Chester was banned from driving for 17 months.
Christopher Jones, 42, of Buckingham Avenue, Vicars Cross, was disqualified from driving by Chester and Ellesmere Port magistrates for driving while under the influence of alcohol on January 31.
Defending, Chris Hunt told the court Jones had been at a friend’s house and after consuming a can of lager had been offered a drink called a cheeky Vimto.
He said: “He did not realise it was an alcoholic drink, so therefore believed he would be fine to drive home.”
Jones was also fined £375.
