Chester Grosvenor Museum hosts photograh exhibition as part of Chester Visual Arts Festival

THE Chester Visual Arts Festival is under way with an abstract photograph exhibition at the Grosvenor Museum.

Professional architect Jean-Benoît Gyssels has created 15 large scale abstract photographs of everyday objects taken from unusual angles.

Chester City Council arts development officer Adrian Sumner said: “ The exhibition is an excellent example of collaboration, as it is a twinning event, showcasing the work of a celebrated photographer from Sens, our twin town in France, presented by the Grosvenor Museum.”

The photos have not been enhanced and the unusual angles the pictures are taken from make it unclear what the original objects were, leaving them open to interpretation by visitors.

The aim of the colourful exhibition is to create a spiritual atmosphere for visitors and inspire a feeling of hope.

Mr Sumner added: “We hope the arts festival programme will provide a lot of interest for people of all ages.”

Photographs by Jean-Benoît Gyssels runs until Tuesday, April 14, at Chester’s Grosvenor Museum.

The museum is open Monday-Saturday, 10.30am-5pm and Sundays from 1-4pm, free admission. For more details, call 01244 402008.
