The 25-year-old from Frodsham was assaulted outside Top Taste, main Street at 2.20am on Sunday (February 1).
Frodsham inspector Phil Hodgson said: “It’s a nasty incident and totally unprovoked.”
The attacker is described as a white male, 5’ 8” and in his early 20s with a slim build, possibly wearing a white T-shirt.
The victim was out with friends and only remembers seeing someone coming towards him with a fist then running off.
He fell and hit his head on the concrete sustaining cuts to his forehead and nose, a swollen lip, cuts behind his ear, a graze on his head and a bruised elbow where he fell. His T-shirt, shirt and jeans were left covered in blood.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the officer in charge of the investigation, PC Matthew Uren, on 01244 612544 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800555111.
In good health
HEALTHY practices at Vale Royal Borough Council have seen the authority top the table for overall satisfaction.
Research conducted by the Rural Services Network during 2007 and 2008 shows that Vale Royal Borough Council has beaten every other rural authority for its payment of invoices within 30 days, the percentage of council tax and business rates collected and the number of days lost due to sickness.
Leader of Vale Royal Borough Council Cllr Les Ford said: “At the heart of our corporate priorities are sound values and management and this reflects in everything we do.”
Jinormous sale

MEMBERS of Frodsham’s Ruth Potter Club for the physically handicapped enjoyed a talk and slide show, My Visit to China, by guest speaker Margaret Harvey. The club's next meeting on February 12 at Frodsham Community Centre will include a Food Quiz, with members guessing unusual recipe ingredients.
Trees to be planted
FRODSHAM Town Council will spend up to £100 on two Irish Yew trees to be planted either side of the Memorial Field Gates on Overton Hill, as part of this year's community celebrations marking 800 years since a charter was signed, raising Frodsham village to “the dignity of a true borough.”
