Choir’s fundraising efforts hit a high note

A SCHOOL choir has raised nearly £1,000 for a children’s charity.

The Queen’s School Chamber Choir, conducted by Rebecca O’Keefe, sang at Eaton Chapel in an evening of Christmas music and readings for the NSPCC.

The audience was treated to a world premiere of Gloria, composed by Jeanette Healey especially for the choir.

Jeanette teaches part-time at the school and has already created another piece for the choir.

Alison Dodd, chairman of Frodsham district of the NSPCC, said: “We are very grateful for the support of The Queen’s School. In the 12 days of Christmas this year, the NSPCC Helpline expects to receive over 2,500 calls from people who are concerned about a child’s safety. On top of this, ChildLine, now part of NSPCC, expects to counsel nearly 5,000 children across the UK over the same time. Thanks to The Queen’s School, we raised nearly £1,000 to support this vital service.”

The event was held by permission of their Graces the Duke and Duchess of Westminster.
