Sowing seeds of community pride

KELSALL children are sowing the seeds of success for their new village play area.

The Kelsall Green playground – which was officially opened last month – is now being decorated by flowers and shrubs as part of a new planting scheme.

Kelsall Green were recently awarded £150 by the Cheshire Year of Gardens Scheme and now every child at Kelsall Primary School has been invited to get their hands dirty and plant something of their own.

Year One pupils were among the first to get involved with the planting project last week.

Chair of fundraising Tara Edelman said: “One of the things we are trying to do is to give people in the village a sense of ownership which helps combat anti-social behaviour.

“If the children, in this case, have helped to plant the flowers then they are less likely to damage it or leave their rubbish in the area.”
