A GANG of bogus callers purporting to work for a gas company rifled through a pensioners home while he thought he was having his boiler checked.
The three burglars called at the man’s house on Ashton Drive, Frodsham, at about 6.30pm, on Tuesday, December 9.
Cheshire Police spokesman Shelley Williams said: “The three men went into his house, one man distracted the victim by pretending to examine his boiler whilst the other two men searched his house and stole cash.
“Police are warning residents in the Frodsham area to be aware of bogus officials operating in the area.
“Genuine tradespeople and officials will present a form of identification and will provide a contact telephone number for residents to verify the authenticity of the caller.”
He added: “Do not allow anyone access to your home without confirming that they are genuine and any suspicious callers should be reported to police.”
Anyone with any information should ring Western Proactive Policing Team on 0845 458 0000.
