Ex-Helsby Parish Council chairman Stuart Hulse appointed chairman of Cheshire Association of Local Councils

A COUNCIL chief is celebrating being named chairman of Cheshire’s parish councils.

Ex-Helsby Parish Council chairman Stuart Hulse was appointed chairman of Cheshire Association of Local Councils (ChAlc) last week for the next four years.

He said: “I am really looking forward to it. I like being in the thick of it and it will be very challenging in these changing times.

“It’s not something I have always wanted to do, up until four years ago I didn’t even know ChAlc existed but, having become involved in parish council environment, I can’t want to get stuck in.

“I was vice chairman for 18 months and then they asked if I would be chairman. It is a feather in the cap for Helsby because I am the second Helsby parish councillor to be chairman after Frank Thomas.”

ChAlc exists to promote, develop and support the parish councils of Cheshire across five areas, including Vale Royal Borough Council and Chester City Council.

Cllr Hulse will help to create new parish councils and train and advise councillors.
