A BRAINY student from Farndon has helped propel his Oxford team into the quarter finals of University Challenge.
In the second-round match between Corpus Christi College, Oxford, and the University of Edinburgh, aired on Monday night, James Marsden, from Farndon was on top form to clinch victory for the college.
James is reading Ancient and Modern History at Corpus Christi College, Oxford after graduating from the Queen’s School, Chester in 2006.
In the second round match up aired on Monday night, he went head-to-head with Michael Blumenthal from Chester who was appearing for the University of Edinburgh.
Corpus Christi romped to a 295-85 win over their Scottish counterparts and James played a prominent role in guiding them to victory.
It propels the team into the quarter finals of the prestigious competition, hosted by the uncompromising Jeremy Paxman.
