Chester nursery school declared “outstanding” by Ofsted

CHESTER’S only city centre nursery school has been classed as outstanding by Government inspectors.

Ofsted described St Mary’s Nursery School on St Mary’s Hill as “an outstanding school that gives its children an excellent start to their education.”

The school, which teaches three- and four-year olds from all over Chester, was marked Grade 1 in every area.

Headteacher Ken Jones said: “It is very pleasing to be recognised by Ofsted as an outstanding school and it is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of staff, governors, children and parents.”

The school will relocate from its city centre site, where it has been since 1846, to Handbridge in January 2009. It will be based in the grounds of Overleigh St Mary’s CE Primary School on Old Wrexham Road.
