POLICE are warning residents to be on their guard after a spate of car thefts in Frodsham, Helsby and Tarvin.
Homes with unlocked doors or windows are being targeted by car thieves but there have also been reports of car keys being stolen through letterboxes using a “cane and hook” method, or even by smashing windows.
Inspector Phil Hodgson said: “Always make sure your homes and vehicles are secure. Even when you are at home you should avoid keeping your keys on show.”
Most of the burglaries took place on November 16, 17 and 19 with vehicles being recovered in the Liverpool, Wirral and West Mercia areas.
