How does your garden grow?

THE best kept gardens, shops and business have been rewarded at Helsby Parish Council’s annual “best kept” presentation night.

The awards, which have been running for more than 10 years, are judged from spring to summer and a presentation was held last Monday.

Helsby Parish Council chairman George Randles, who presented all the awards, said: “It is a lot of effort by an awful lot of people and it was nice to see some new faces. This year the standard was higher than ever and it is getting more and more difficult to a pick a winner.”

Best kept business premises went to self catering holiday homes The Courtyard on Lower Rake Lane.

Mr G Spencer was given first place for best kept garden in South Ward and Mr and Mrs R Tideswell won best kept garden North Ward.

Digger Rigby was handed best kept allotment at Queen’s Drive.
