Chester hospital ward closed due to winter vomiting virus

THE Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has shut Ward 42 to all visitors to contain an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea.

Two cases are confirmed as being caused by norovirus. Five additional patients on the ward are also symptomatic.

Ward 42 is a cardiology ward. All infection control measures are in place.

Patient safety is the trust’s primary concern, so visiting infectious patients is strictly controlled.

Visitors who need to visit a critically ill patient should contact the ward manager via the hospital switchboard on 01244 365000 or speak to staff on main reception who will provide assistance
