Heart attack victim’s cycle thanks

AN AIRBUS worker has completed an 174-mile bike ride – just seven months after having a heart attack.

John Mosinski, 50, who is an aviationary fueller for BP at the Airbus site in Broughton, suffered a heart attack in March after he returned from a cycle ride.

Rather than going straight home, to his house in Upton, Chester, he stopped at Edge Cycleworks in Boughton.

He said: “I had pains in my chest but I just thought it was indigestion. When it didn’t get any better Chris Stephens, who works at the cycle shop, took me to my doctor – who took one look at me and said: ‘You’re having a heart attack.’

“If I’d been at home on my own I don’t know if I’d have gone to the doctors or if I’d have just sat down and waited for it to go away. It’s a scary thought.”

John was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital, where he made a full recovery, and on Monday, September 29, embarked on the sponsored bike ride to raise money for the hospital’s coronary care unit.

The cycle ride followed the coast-to-coast route of Hadrian’s Cycleway, from Ravenglass in Cumbria to South Shields, and took John two and a half days to complete.

So far John has banked £1,000 in sponsorship money but is still collecting donations.
