Pumpkin face carvers turn to Facebook

A CHESHIRE farm shop has hit the information superhighway to get youngsters signed up to their pumpkin face-off.

The Hollies, at Little Budworth, has created a social networking group on Facebook to give advice to those growing pumpkins for Hallowe’en.

In May, the rural store and neighbouring Nunsmere Hall Hotel distributed pumpkin seeds to customers ahead of the Vale Royal Food and Garden Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19.

It is hoped green fingered locals will grow their pumpkins for the carving-competition at the festival, on the fields at the Hollies.

Director of The Hollies Ed Cowap said: “The food festival is going to be a lively setting for the pumpkin carving competition with some fantastic prizes to be won.”
