Club has bright green idea

MEMBERS of the Mecca Bingo Club in Chester have the chance to win a car while becoming more energy efficient.

Free energy-saving light bulbs are being given away at all Mecca Bingo clubs across the UK during September.

Members need to install the bulbs in suitable lights at home and see if they turn green for the chance to win either a Toyota Prius or £1,000 to spend at the Southern Electric online shop.

Residents were encouraged to become more energy efficient when Christine Russell MP visited Mecca Bingo in Chester to support the campaign launched by Mecca Bingo and Scottish & Southern Energy, who have joined forces to distribute two million free lightbulbs.

Naomi Glass, manager of the Chester Mecca Bingo club, said: “It’s great to be able to give our customers something that will not only help them save money but will also cut down on CO2 emissions.

“With the onset of autumn and the nights starting to get darker earlier, the sooner people collect their bulbs and switch them over and the better for the environment and their pockets.”
