Chester pub aims to raise £1,500 in three days

A CHESTER pub is aiming to raise £1,500 over three days in support of a children’s charity.

Lee Thelwell, who manages The Square Bottle in Foregate Street, is hosting a range of fundraising activities at the pub on Friday October 3 and Saturday October 4.

In addition, staff at the pub will be raising money themselves by taking part in a football competition on Sunday, October 5.

The fundraising weekend is part of a £1 million challenge taking place in all Wetherspoon pubs across the UK.

The company’s pub staff and customers are aiming to raise the seven figure sum for CLIC Sargent, a charity which supports children and young people with cancer.

Lee said: “The fundraising events will give our customers the opportunity to have fun and support a wonderful charity at the same time.”

BBC Radio One presenter Mark Chapman, a CLIC Sargent patron, said: “I would like to wish The Square Bottle the best of luck with its fundraising and urge people in Chester to support the pub.

“All of the money raised at the pub will go towards funding CLIC Sargent’s fantastic work in supporting children and young people with cancer.”
