Rotary riders on a roll

HUNDREDS of bikers took to the roads for a charity ride to raise funds for three worthy causes.

More than 180 machines left Ewloe’s Clwyd Car Auctions site for the Deeside Rotary Club’s Ride for Charity event.

Riders from across the region, many from Chester, took part raising more than £1,200 for Hope House Children’s Hospices, Claire House Children’s Hospice and North Wales Air Ambulance.

Deeside Rotary Club spokeswoman Paula Lewis says it was a fabulous day.

She said: “The weather could not have been kinder and we were thrilled with the sheer number of riders, families and children that turned up to take part.

“Last year we had 75 machines setting off and this year the number grew to more than 170.

“We also have to thank North Wales Police for their help, they were brilliant and stopped the traffic to get us away. “There were no accidents or incidents and everyone enjoyed a fabulous ride from Ewloe, through Buckley, down into Mold before heading out to Denbigh then on into Ruthin and eventually up onto the Horseshoe Pass and the finishing post at the Ponderosa Cafe.

“Thanks to everyone who took part.”
