It’s official: Tiana’s snail feat is world record

NO SLOW motion replay was needed to confirm a schoolgirl’s record-breaking challenge.

Guinness World Records took just one week to approve an attempt by Tiana Walton, nine, of Pye Corner Farm, Alvanley, to slither into the latest edition of the book.

Abbey Gate School pupil Tiana had 25 slimy snails clinging to her eyes, nose and mouth for 10 seconds as she smashed the previous record for keeping snails on the face.

The Chronicle filmed Tiana’s world-class feat last month and the video on www.chesterchronicle.co.uk has been viewed by more than 10,000 people around the world.

Tiana’s feat also attracted national Press attention and she was interviewed for CBBC’s Newsroundand BBC North West Tonight.

Tiana joins her mother, Tommy, who, when also aged nine, appeared on the cover of the 1980 Guinness Book of World Records for growing the largest lemon in the world.

Tiana’s dad Simon helped Tommy put the snails on their daughter’s face and Frodsham solicitor Mike Daly and Alvanley vet Ken Robinson witnessed the attempt and ensured no snails were harmed.
