The Chronicle today launches a new column, bringing you news from the award-winning, nationally renowned tourist attraction at Chester Zoo.
Everyday at Chester Zoo brings something new – births, animal moves, a story of conservation and different and exciting things for our visitors to do.
In this new column, we’ll be bringing you the inside track on what’s happening at the largest zoo in the UK. We’ll be meeting the people who care for and look after our 7,000 animals and plants and discovering what a ‘normal’ day is like for them. With the summer season behind us, sights are set on the opening of our new Butterfly Journey. This amazing walkthrough exhibit will be home to some 500 butterflies and moths of up to 30 different species. If all goes to plan, the house should be open by early November. To coincide with the opening of this exciting exhibit, we have also launched a children’s book called What am I? Asked butterfly.
Written and illustrated by renowned children’s author Stuart Trotter, the book tells the heart-warming story of a confused butterfly who, with some help from his friends in the jungle, tries to discover exactly what he is. The charming character from the book will also feature in the new butterfly house.
To mark our first column in the Chronicle, we have a signed copy of the book and an animal adoption to give away. To be in with a chance of winning the package, put your name and address on a postcard and send it to Barry Ellams, Chester Chronicle, Commonhall Street, CH1 2AA no later than Friday, September 12.
