Bales of hay delay Chester-bound train

A CHESTER-bound train was delayed for an hour on Saturday afternoon after a farmer dropped bales of hay on to the tracks.

British Transport Police reported the incident to Network Rail who cleared about eight bales of hay from the tracks near Capenhurst Station.

The farmer had alerted officers to the accidental blockage and train drivers were advised to travel with caution.

It is believed the train, carrying Chester City supporters, was held from 1.05-2.10pm while the hay was cleared.
